Privacy Policy

A short, plain-language summary of what we collect, why, and the controls you always have.

Last updated: 2026-09-02

The short version. Storyplease is for parents and guardians. We collect only what's needed to create your personalized stories. We never sell your data. You can export or delete everything at any time from your account settings.

Who this is for

Storyplease accounts are intended for adults (parents, guardians, grandparents, teachers). The "people" you add to your account — including children — are story characters, not separate accounts. Children do not interact with Storyplease directly.

What we don't collect

How we use AI

Storyplease uses third-party AI providers solely to create and quality-check the stories you request: OpenAI generates story text, creates visual identity descriptions, and checks character and illustration consistency; Google Gemini generates character sheets and story illustrations. Your prompts, character details, reference photos, and generated story content are sent to these providers only when needed for those parts of story generation. Storyplease does not use them for advertising, marketing profiles, identifying the people in your photos, or any purpose unrelated to creating your stories. Per their published terms, these providers do not use inputs from their paid commercial APIs to train their models as configured here.

Before generation, free-text inputs (custom prompts, personality descriptions) are checked by an automated moderation system to block harmful content.

How we use your reference photos

Photos you upload of your family are stored in our cloud storage and used only as part of generating and quality-checking the stories you request. When needed, a photo is sent to OpenAI to create a style-neutral description of visible appearance and to check whether a generated character sheet preserves that person's likeness. It is sent to Google Gemini as a visual reference when generating character sheets and story illustrations. The style-neutral description may be stored with that person's profile and reused only to keep the same person visually consistent in future stories. Storyplease does not use reference photos to identify anyone, train a model, advertise to you, or for any purpose outside your story generation. You can replace a person's photo, delete the person and their photo, or delete your entire account (including all photos) from settings.

Your controls

Export your data

From Settings → Export my data you can download a JSON file containing your account, settings, people, stories, and full activity history. Image binaries are not included in the export — they remain available in the app until you delete the account.

Delete your account

From Settings → Delete my account you can permanently remove your account, every story, every person, every uploaded photo, and every generated illustration. Deletion is immediate and not recoverable.

Update or remove individual people

From the People screen you can edit or delete any person you've added, which also deletes their reference photo.

Security

Sign-in uses short-lived one-time email codes — there are no passwords to leak. Session tokens are stored hashed in our database. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest on Cloudflare's storage infrastructure.

Cookies

Storyplease stores a single sign-in token in your browser's local storage to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics.

Children's privacy

Storyplease is operated by parents, for parents. Children are not direct users of the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 13. If you believe we've inadvertently collected such information, contact us at [email protected] and we'll remove it.

International users

Storyplease is operated from the United States and uses U.S.-based cloud infrastructure. By using the service you consent to the transfer of your data to the U.S. EU and UK users have the right to access, correct, port, and delete their data — all of which are available through the controls above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Storyplease evolves. Material changes will be announced via email and a notice on the homepage. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
